Starting from Moltrasio is very easy to get to Tradate: follow the Regina road towards Como, then enters into A9 higway direction Milan and exit at Lomazzo Nord. Here, take the highway SS342 – COMO – VARESE direction Varese (3rd exit at the roundabout). Pass a few villages: Guanzate, Appiano Gentile, until you get to Tradate. Here the original museum, founded by Guido Fisogni in 1966, is currently the most comprehensive museum of petrol pumps in the world with as more as 5,000 objects including of course petrol pumps and more: everything that is tied to the history of the stations service can be seen here, such as plates, oil milk, vintage graphics, oilers, pyrometers, compressors etc. In addition, it will be possible to have an historical path through many vintage postcards and oil companies’s gadgets. The idea of ​​the museum created by Guido Fisogni, which in the 60s found a Bergomi petrol pump in poor condition and decides to restore it. Let’s Visit Varese!

When you finish your visit to the museum, you should make a stop at the Sacred Mountain and in Varese.

If you’ve never been in Varese, this stop is a must. We start from the magical atmosphere of this town, in a mix of faith and beautiful places. Not to be missed is the Sacro Monte, in the countryside. To reach the top you will face a path of faith with 14 chapels. Along the way you will see also an open air theater, along the climb to the sanctuary and the village. In these places, so green and strong spirituality, it seems that you could stop the time and the spirit is revived.
Varese instead is a living city with a heady past. Walking around it will give you chance to experience it, through old shops, markets, churches. Small streets and alleys, which sometimes became larger squares. If you have a little more time, admire the splendid palaces and rest a little bit into the green parks. Otherwise, curious in palaces’ courts and maybe you’ll find beautiful inner courtyards and monasteries.
Varese is also known as the garden city: green and lush, rich in art nouveau houses, villas and parks. From Piazza Monte Grappa start to explore the city: do not miss the Estense palace and gardens and the whole center. Then devote a visit to Villa Panza and Villa Toepliz, maybe take a ride up to the Lake Varese, then close your day with a visit (and a beer) at the Birreria Poretti.
