Villa Balbianello is one of the most beautiful villas in Lake Como. This so famous Villa overlooks an enchanting wooded promontory on the tip of the Dosso di Lavedo, which immerses in the waters of the lake, forming a small peninsula. Villa Balbianello, built in the 12th century, was frequented by intellectuals and important characters throughout the period of the Italian revival.
How to reach Villa Balbianello in Lenno
Villa Balbianello is about 30 minutes from Moltrasio and from the Hotel Posta, reaching it is very easy: just cross the road, go to the dock and take the boat departing to Tremezzina / Lenno. Villa Balbianello has a peculiarity: it is one of the villas managed by the FAI, an Italian environmental fund that protects and makes it accessible to members free of charge and asks a small ticket to all other visitors.
Villa Balbianello has always been considered one of the most romantic and wonderful villas of Lake Como, for this reason every year it attracts many couples that choose to have wedding here. One feature that makes this place incredible is the Loggia del Cardinale Durini, which gives a unique view of Lake Como: direction north you can see Tremezzina, direction south the Comacina Island.

The magnificent villa and its garden have given rise to numerous film productions. For example, here George Lucas set up some scenes of one of the most important and famous movie: the Episode 2 of Star Wars, Clone Attack. Star Wars fans love to imitate their idols finding the locations where they shot the scenes of this cult movie, for that reason many are going to Villa del Balbianello. The most famous scene is the kiss between Princess Padmè and the young Anakin.
