The Como Lake inedited: the “Kilometer of Knowledge”

The “Kilometer of Knowledge”  (KM_C) is a walking trail that unites three particularly beautiful villas close to Como: Villa Olmo, Villa del Grumello, Villa Sucota, passing through their old garden parks.

The walk along the “Kilometer of Knowledge” will lead you along tree-lined paths in the vast parks of the villas, covering almost 17 acres of land, and letting you discover its hidden beauty. The idea is to create a center dedicated to art and innovation, and to territorial marketing, giving value to each villa’s unique features, and create synergy between the three by organizing events, workshops and meets. It’s time to let people re-discover “beauty”, and provoke the desire to get together and talk about beautiful things. This trail has been requested by institutions, associations, foundations, and local companies, and it will become an important inter-cultural location for the city of Como and its territory.

The “Kilometer of Knowledge trail

You start at Villa Olmo, crossing the “Kilometer Bridge” next to  the road that leads to Cernobbio,  you walk along the municipal greenhouses until you reach Villa del Grumello and Villa Sucota , walking amongst lemon trees, chapels beautiful botanical specimens.

The Villa Sucota Park (the Antonio Ratti Foundation park)

The object of the first phase of the regeneration of this area is to raise awareness of the non-profit ARF (Antonio Ratti Foundation) , who for thirty years has been engaged in world textile studies, promoting research, innovation and the study of contemporary art. Walking through the park of Villa Sucota it’s impossible not to stop and admire the beauty; the small chapel, the music pavilion or the lemon tree garden. The entire venue is available for events, workshops and themed meetings.

The Villa del Grumello park

The Villa del Grumello  is host for activities and associations with economic concern, social and scientific development in the Como area. In the park you’ll find three trails, each one named after persons who have been involved in creating the project;  Paolo Celesia (botanical expert and creator of the project), Paolo Giovio and Ugo Foscolo. These 3 men let us experience the park from different angles and heights. The project includes the  recovery of the Como Lake dock.
