From August 11 to October 2, 2022, the Como Silk Museum is hosting Elena Bianchi’s upcycling exhibition R*Ac*Cogliere.
R*Ac*Cogliere: upcycling in a contemporary key.
The artist, through 32 stories of upcycling, translates the idea of reuse in a contemporary key by linking the creativity and expressiveness of re-purposed waste materials with a deeper awareness whereby recovering is transformed into an ethical thought that Como has embraced with its recognition as a Unesco Creative City.
Suspended works made from materials considered lost are activated by the presence of the visitor who is both observer and actor in the artistic process.
What does upcycling mean?
The term upcycling means the reuse of discarded materials to create objects of greater value in terms of real or perceived quality; in the case of the R*Ac*Cogliere exhibition, the artist succeeds in giving new life to objects by transforming them into art.
The Como Silk Museum
One of the activities that have made the city of Como world-renowned is definitely silk processing. It is a tradition that can still be rediscovered today thanks to the Como Silk Museum, which allows visitors to learn, in the most complete way possible, not only about the production process but also about the individual working stages of this valuable material. We talked about it in more detail in this article, give it a look.
The appointment to visit the R*Ac*Cogliere exhibition is at the Como Silk Museum headquarters at Via Castelnuovo 9, Tuesday through Sunday 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and 2 p.m.-6 p.m.
If you want to extend your visit in the city or want to enjoy a good meal with local flavors and a view of Lake Como, we are waiting for you at our Hotel Posta in Moltrasio.
