The Lake Como’s territory has always offered a huge amount of breathtaking landscapes. Today we are talking about one of the oasis born thanks to the typical conformation of the small lakes that are surrounding Lake Como: the “Lago di Piano” nature reserve.
Lago di Piano Natural Reserve is located in Carlazzo, in the Como’s province about 35 km from our Hotel Posta – Moltrasio, near Porlezza on Lake Lugano (a trip that could also be made by bike from Menaggio). This magnificent reserve is part of the Lombardy Region’s protected areas and it is recognized by the European Union as a SIC (Site of Community Importance). A beautiful path surrounded by woods and reeds around the lake. The “Lago di Piano” is very small, but the surrounding nature it is of rare beauty: in addition to plants and flowers, you can also see many animals such as swans, ducks and, if you are lucky, some roe deer.
The Lago di Piano Nature Reserve extends over a 176 hectares area, 85 belong to the lake. It has small size but the organic structure is composed of different and very close habitats. This make the area a real synthesis in the description-representation of the surrounding landscape. Immersed in nature, you can arrive at the Reserve House where the Reserve Guard’s office is located. Here you can find a small museum where you can find animal finds. Right in front of the Reserve House there is a beautiful picnic area, overlooking the lake where you can eat.
For those interested in visiting the lake from a different perspective, you can rent a rowing boat and enjoy the scenery right from the lake’s center! If at the end of this day you are completely relaxed in the nature you do not want to return to the city, there’s a solution: right on the shore of Lago di Piano there are several campsites that offer the possibility of staying in a tent. When you arrive at the Hotel, if you want to enjoy this special landscape, ask for information and we will give you all the tips to spend an unforgettable day at Lago di Piano.
