Lake Como: a beautiful movie set

Lake Como, especially in recent years, has been movie set for important national and international advertising campaigns and movies. A few years ago Lombardia Film Commission, a nonprofit foundation, was simplifying all the bureaucratic practices to facilitate filmmaking in our region.

Many VIPs are falling in love with it, so they come back to visit us. Como’s territory is more than a century than is a natural movie set: even the Lumière brothers turned here their first film. Among the most famous little ones, you can see “The other man” with Antonio Banderas, The Luzhin Defence, from a Nabokov’s novel, “Ocean’s Twelve”,”The Pleasure Garden”, Alfred Hitchcock’s silent film, “A month by the Lake” with Uma Thurman and Alessandro Gassman, “Casino Royale” and the second episode of the new trilogy of Star Wars.

In addition to all the internationally renowned films, many Italian films have been recorded on the shores of our wonderful lake. Among others, “Rocco e i suoi fratelli” by Luchino Visconti, “Che bella giornata” with Checco Zalone and obviously the Promessi Sposi television edition of the Promessi Sposi entitled “Renzo e Lucia”.

“Part of the charm of many movies and TV shows is surely due to the place in which they have been filmed and often leads the spectator to wonder where was it shot. The guide allows you to discover villas, parks and many landscapes immortalized by the camera in Como and its surroundings. “The Lake Como’s stars” is a review of Lake Como’s location often seen in several films: from Villa Balbianello to Lenno, from Villa d’Este to Cernobbio. Here you can find also less recognizable places such as the Alserio, Montorfano, Segrino,  and Annone’s lakes or the Teresio Olivelli Civic Park in Tremezzo.
